The Death of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson, as we all know, was pronounced dead at around 2:26 pm on Thursday 25th of June. He "died" in effect approximately an hour of a half earlier. Michael Jackson's personal physician (and CARDIOLOGIST) insisted on him being taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA medical center for further futile attempts to save Jackson's life.

Not only was his death shocking, but it also raised more questions about his increasingly dark private life. Currently the media are turning his death into a drugs scandal. He has not even been buried yet and the media can think no better than to continue the rumours that plagued him in life. However he died, I truly believe it was due to stress and mental suffering. When Elvis died, people seemingly shook off the element of drug abuse and celebrated him for his music and life. Jackson ended his life amidst a rapid fall from grace due to child abuse scandals and extreme eccentricities. It feels almost impossible to celebrate him in the light we would have had he died at his musical peak. The reaction to his death is bitter-sweet indeed for the king of pop, sales are up, respect is down.

The cause of death according to much speculation is a drugs overdose. The media is reporting he took up to 7 (maybe more) prescription drugs at the time, which even included anasthetic drugs for use in operations. It is hard to deny the tough times Michael Jackson has been through over recent years. Rumours of him sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber, purchasing the elephant man's bones, going through up to 50 cosmetic proceedures and molesting children have not played out in his favour. One source reports that during the 2005 child molestation trial he was taking up to 40 vicodin tablets per day. This is quite hard to believe, even taking into account tolerance of a drug over time. A former nanny came forward with a claim of pumping Michael's stomach "many times" over the years (disputed), and one former nurse and nutritionist reportedly denied him access to Propofol, the anesthesic drug apparently implicated in his death. The media and members of the Jackson family are most concerned about the star's use of demerol. I remember picking up a US version of the National Enquirer whilst in Iceland in 2007. It reported his self-induced isolation in his rented LA home (reportedly unkept with apparent urine and faeces of the floor) and his daily routine of taking demerol and his beloved "jesus juice". I shall scan part of this very soon. It's eearily similar to his actual demise.

It was widely thought that demerol was to blame for his death, however, Dr Conrad Murray declared that he had not given Jackson the lethal drug. What is fishy about the doctor is that he fled the scene once Michael was declared dead. He also provided Jackson with "incorrect" CPR according to commentators. Did he flee the scene to dispose of evidence? Get his story straight? Communicate with his lawyer? An innocent man would not leave the scene if he had nothing to hide. Arguably he would have out-stayed his welcome because of the magnitude of the star and his apparent "friendship" with Jackson. CPR was performed on Jackson's bed which many deemed inappropriate. A bed is not firm enough to provide the most effective chest compressions to re-start the heart. Dr Murray also did not personally dial the 911 call because "he didn't know the location exactly" (regardless of the fact he must have somehow navigated there to go to work in the first place). Eventually after much delay, security personnel made the call. The medical staff on the line were trying to find out Jackson's condition and the doctor remained silent in the background. Was this a legal move to not say anything incriminating?? The most bizarre thing about Dr Murray is the most obvious. His specialty is cardiology - the heart. He would know the best way to respond when someone is in cardiac arrest and would possibly advise on medications or appropriate use of medications to prevent such a situation occuring in the first place. However on the more sinister side, he would also know how to effectively stop the heart without prolonged pain and suffering. Was he implicated in an assisted suicide? Michael Jackson was in a frail state and was less than several weeks away from his opening show at the O2 Arena in London. This was apparently his "glorious return" to the top. Very few people could see this happening, most dates were pushed back to March 2010. Was this his final escape from disappointing his fans and evading financial woes? From a technical perspective it made sense for him to end his life at that point, he was shortly about to fly to London for the final rehearsals and could possibly find no access to, nor smuggle such lethal substances into England to kill himself with before the concerts, it also prevented his body being flown for many hours back to America. It is as if he had given himself the maximum time before deciding that he could not get away with not doing the promised concerts. If this is indeed the case, I do not believe any amount of disappointment to his fans is worth his life. I would much rather he cancel and remain alive, as do many people. The concert promoter that insisted he do that many concerts to begin with has played a part in his demise. It was obvious he could not go from not performing in 15 years to performing the concert of a lifetime with only 4 months to prepare.

The most widely noted conspiracy on the topic at the moment is that Michael faked his death in order to escape the glare of the media, performing at the concerts and his financial battles. We do not have a death certificate avaliable to us via TMZ or other sources. The theory seems credible as long as we ignore people's romanticized theory that he did it in order to put on a show of a lifetime at a later date. I believe he grew tired of performing. If anything, I could see him living out the rest of his days quietly under a new identity. However, this theory does not seem very well thought out. It is basically the same as the conspiracy surrounding the death of Elvis. Until we see Michael Jackson's coffin fitted with an air conditioning system and his brow "sweating", I shall disregard this theory. With the world obsessed with him, it is hard to picture him not being spotted anywhere at all, however http://www.michaeljacksonsightings.com/ display a single, badly-pixelated photo which is apparently Michael after his death. We see no face, just a backward turned body with an umbrella. If it is indeed him, we cannot date this photo. It could just be a recently taken unseen photo of him. An extremely creative ellaboration on the theory is that Jackson had a terminally ill patient recieve plastic surgery to look like him and then die in his place. I have looked at his appearance for many years, particularly the nose. I doubt a plastic surgeon could create the thinning and decomposition of the ill person's nose to the state of Jackson's (not meaning to be insulting). Everything, about Jackson is the same as I remember. If it was possible, the surgeon must have been so good at plastic surgery on his stand-in that he was bordering on witchcraft.

I quite like the idea put forward that he'll turn up at one of his cancelled shows in the thriller zombie makeup to shock the world. This however, is just wishful thinking.
